If you are visiting India, here are some important tips on how to save while exploring. @theknowncity 1. SAVE ON FLIGHTS. Neither much in advance nor waiting ’til the last moment is advisable as you make your flight booking. You also need to remember that Fridays and Sundays are busiest and hence can be pretty expensive days to travel by flight. Hence, it is best suggested to be flexible with the dates so that you can have your tickets booked for a much lower price. Consider traveling during off-season to get the best deal. 2. Lone Red Tree in Sri lanka

A lone red-colored tree stands amid a sea of lush greenery in Sri Lanka’s Horton Plains. Your Shot member Martin Bisof captured this image “from the train during our journey from Kandy to Haputale,” he writes. Horton Plains is located in Sri Lanka’s central highlands and was declared a national park in 1988. “[It] is a really amazing place for photography,” Bisof says. “I just stood … in the open train doorway and I couldn’t stop photographing.”

Coastal wolves

Image
British Columbia’s coastal wolves are distinct, special, unlike any other wolf on this planet. These young pups play while they wait for their pack members to return with a meal from the sea. A small population of wolves on Vargas Island Provincial Park was nearly killed off by the Provincial Parks several years ago because of human-induced conflict. These wolves share the same ocean beaches as humans. They have been fed by people and are becoming more bold. Now, just when this population is starting to grow, we are at a crossroads. If one wolf is shot, we risk losing the whole pack. Let’s not make the same mistake again. We, as humans, are smart enough to adapt when visiting their home. Simple solutions will go a long way to ensuring their survival—and in preserving this critical and interconnected ecosystem.

ANIMALS HAVE EMOTIONS TOO!!

Image
Here a Sumatran Tiger cub lost his right leg from getting caught in a snare for 4 days. Shares are indiscriminate and catch anything that steps in them. Snares should be outlawed. This cub is scared - it just lost it’s mom and is in a cage - afraid - we need to realize deep in our hearts that animals have emotions too. If we can treat them better - maybe we could find some empathy inside of us to treat each other better also. There are only 3500 tigers left in the wild! We need to fight for the right of tigers to live - peacefully and without being killed for the traditional medicine market, tiger bone wine, tiger skin furniture and other trade. Help stop the demand for endangered species used in this practice! Our animal family is so much like us - they find mates, they have kids, they have to feed themselves and their families, they feed themselves and their families in the same way we as humans used to! If we can find a way to believe they think, feel and have emotions, m

Travel

Travel  is the movement of  people  between relatively distant geographical  locations , and can involve travel by  foot ,  bicycle ,  automobile , train ,  boat ,  airplane , or other means, with or without luggage, and can be one way or round trip. Travel can also include relatively short stays between successive movements. The origin of the word "travel" is most likely lost to history. The term "travel" may originate from the  Old French  word  travail . According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the first known use of the word travel was in the 14th century. It also states that the word comes from Middle English  travailen ,  travelen  (which means to torment, labor, strive, journey) and earlier from Old French  travailler  (which means to work strenuously, toil). In English we still occasionally use the words  travail  and travails , which mean struggle. According to Simon Winchester in his book The Best Travelers' Tales (2004), the words travel and trav

FOREIGN TRAVEL

Image
FOREIGN TRAVEL   Travelling is something everyone would like to experience from a very young age. We are introduced to other countries first by watching television programs held to inform us of different cultures, languages, food and sights other places have. Visiting countries other than your own is extremely interesting. Some travel on business, others to go on holiday. Students also travel to study, to take a post graduate course in a well-known University. Others travel to educate themselves, to learn more about the country they are visiting, places of interest, like art and history museums, to experience their culture.   Foreign travel contributes to a person’s education. People acquire information and increase their knowledge. They also learn a new language. If they do not travel they become insular. It is important to savour other nation’s culture, experience first hand the way they live, cook and do things in everyday life. This fosters understanding and b

Why do we Travel?

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
